Creating a hard disk image to use on MESS PC-186 emulation - slipstream - 10 Oct 2014

You'll need this floppy image:

First, you'll obviously need to create the hard disk image using chdman.
The command syntax I use for this is:

Next, attach the newly created chd and that floppy image you downloaded to the emulated PC-186 in MESS. I assume you have the various ROMs needed. I hope you enabled the menu, it makes it easier.

Format it as an ST225N using hdform4 (there are several hdform*.exe on that floppy image, MAKE SURE YOU USE HDFORM4 !).
You'll get an error. Ignore it.

Run stamp, and it'll want to reboot. Hard reset in MESS. (Again, assuming you enabled the MESS menu.)

format c: - it should work perfectly. Smile

I originally posted this on BA, but have expanded on the instructions here.
